Dear Santa,

This year, I would only like a few things…

Just like last year, I’d like you to stop into the homes of the members of Tool and sprinkle some motivation juices.  It’s obvious that the amount you used last time wasn’t enough, double it.  The importance of an album being dropped this year is paramount.  It seems that we are running right through that five-year average for new music and there is no promise of anything materializing.  I follow most of the members of APC and Pucifer on Instagram and Facebook.  I know that both of those bands are in the process of rehearsing for shows coming up in the New Year.  Maynard also spent the entire last season of 2012 squishing grapes for the winery.  It’s just not looking good.  Santa.  Listen to me.  I can imagine that I’m not the only good little girl who has asked for this.  I’ll even settle to get another Tool limited tour in 2013, even with no new music.  You’re the best Santa.

Also, Santa… you’ll just happen to be in the homes of these people already…

I don’t have to have new Dave Matthews Band music.  It would be great, but announcing more tour dates instead of random concerts, sporadically spread across the entire United States, would be superfantasitc.   Remind Dave that sleep is the baby momma of death and we can dance with it later.  Some of the best concerts I’ve ever seen have been DMB at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston.  He always puts on great shows for Texas, and you can dance with him or lay out on the lawn with your $9 wine based margarita.  Yes, Santa, Tell the boys it’s time to set some dates.  You really are the best.

You’ll have to pop into Trent Reznor’s house; whisper to him that all the cool guys are getting back together with their bands and doing reunion tours.  There have been the rumblings and a talk of new music for Nine Inch Nails since 2009.  During this same time, Trent has worked on many other projects that have been released.  I get the wait for greatness when the new album finally comes to be, but Santa, tell him that it’s time to tour some Pretty Hate Machine.

Here’s what I need, an epic summer concert series next year.  I need you to let all of the rock community know that you enjoy over priced beer, smokey venues, and concert tickets that cost as much as boarding the reindeer for Spring Break.  There are so many classic bands coming back together.  I don’t kid myself that you have the magic to reunite Led Zeplin, but I think that if you drop a few guitars and drum kits off to all the good boys and girls of rock, they might get the hint.  There is already shaping up to be an amazing line up for the start of the New Year in Houston, even Depeche Mode is coming back around.  My one Christmas wish is so easy, my little list is almost selfless, a reminder really, of what we ALL want.
